Scandic St. Jörgen
January 14, 2008

Now that I’ve finished with the posts of Gdańsk is time to go back to the trip to Malmö. There, we lodged in the hotel Scandic St. Jörgen.

Scandic St. JörgenName: Scandic St. Jörgen.
Address: Stora Nygatan 35
20312 Malmö (Sweden).
Phone: +46 (0) 40 693 46 00
Fax: +46 (0) 40 693 46 11
Rating: Good.

We chose this chain because having the Swedish student card (Studentkortet), you can get nice discounts, and this hotel in particular because aside from being the cheapest Scandic in Malmö, it’s placed in the most touristic part of the city, and just 10 minutes away walking from the train station.

I talked about the discount for being student in Sweden, but we couldn’t take advantage of it because it didn’t worked on Christmas, hehe. However we booked a twin cabin room (the cheapest kind of double room) but when we arrived there they upgraded it to a double room for free, which was a nice detail.

The first impression we got from the room was very good, for it was big and seemed very comfortable. The room had two big beds put together, one big board and other small, one chair, two armchairs, TV, phone and iron. The bathroom had the toilet, a big marble bathtube with shower, a sink and a hairdryer. Also, the room had very big windows from which we could partly see Gustav Adolfs Torg, one of the most important squares in the city. However, I don’t know if the heating didn’t worked properly, or it was because of the extreme cold they had in Malmö those days, but sometimes you cold feel very cold in the room.

With the price of the room was included a breakfast buffet, which wasn’t particularly impressive, and Wi-Fi internet connection, for which we needed user and password, which were handed out at the reception.

Just to conclude, I can say that it is a nice hotel and that I liked it, despite it wasn’t anything amazing. However, taking into account that it was Christmas and we paid only 450 SEK (about 47 €) each night for the double room, the last thing I can do is complain about it.
